My Ultimate Comfort Films

Some days you just need to curl up on the sofa (or couch, if you’re American) and watch a good film. I think that this January more than ever before, we are in need of some comfort films to get us through the ongoing COVID saga.

We all have those films that we go back to on a bad day time after time, that make you feel safe and warm. Well after ten years with a chronic illness, I’ve definitely accumulated a good number of comfort films to watch on my bad days. Beware, there are going to be a lot of chic flicks on this list…

Hannah Montana: The Movie

This is my ultimate comfort film. It makes me feel like I’m wrapped in a fuzzy blanket eating chocolate. Probably because I usually am wrapped in a fuzzy blanket eating chocolate when I watch it…

10 Things I Hate About You

If anyone says anything against this classic masterpiece, our friendship will be immediately terminated. You literally cannot get any better than a Taming Of The Shrew adaptation staring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger. Top tier artistry.

Wild Child

This film is elite in so many ways. Also I’m pretty sure this is an accurate representation of an American transferring to a British boarding school.

St Trinian’s

This film is the epitome of British culture and I will not let anyone tell me otherwise. I remember watching it for the first time when I was 9, and feeling like an unbelievable badass because it had a 12 certificate. It’s been a favourite ever since. Plus there is a quote for every situation.

Monte Carlo

Believe me when I say that I’m judging myself as much as you are right now, but this film just makes me happy. As much as Selena Gomez’s attempt at a British accent makes me die a little bit inside every time I hear it, I have to say it’s just one of those films that makes me feel calm.

The Prince And Me

Let’s face it, any 90’s movie with Julia Stiles in is guaranteed to go down well with me. I love this film and will never get over the heartbreak that they changed the cast for the sequels.

Tinkerbell And The Secret Of The Wings

To be honest, every film in the Tinkerbell franchise is a comfort movie for me, but Secret Of The Wings just has something that sets it apart from the others. If I’m having a really bad day, this film is my go-to.

These films are all special to me, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for some good movies for a cosy day in. Have you seen any of these films? What are your comfort movies?

Love,

Amie
